Ornak is a completely original house, filled with mementos and objects that are witnesses to history.
This house - its old walls made of wooden logs, carved furniture, beautiful lamps, and items are authentic witnesses of history.
Ornak was built in 1902 by one of the creators of Tatra National Park, Professor Stanisław Sokołowski. The house is made entirely of wood. Its architecture is a classic example of the Witkiewicz style (also known as the Zakopane style). Since its inception, it has remained in the hands of one family.
You have at your disposal four large and original rooms: Sasankowy [the Pasque Flower Room], Szafronowy [the Saffron Room], Złotogłowy [the Golden-Head Room], and Litworowy [the Wild Celery Room].
They are all similar in that the furniture, lamps, clocks, and lambrequins are all from the same epoch. In the rooms there are working telephones from the 1920s and beautifully decorated Zakopane tiled stoves, also still in working order.
You can use the house in three ways:
- by occupying the entire house (as a family, a group of friends, or people with a common interest)
- by dividing the house into two parts (rooms can be combined into two two-room apartments)
by occupying the rooms separately (this is the most frequently practiced form here).
The rooms are adorned with stylish stoves, antique furniture, and lamps. There is also a living room, referred to here as the veranda room, a summer veranda, and a hall with stairs leading to the sanitary and kitchen area located below the living quarters, which underwent a thorough renovation in 2018.
Residents of each room therefore have exclusive access to their own spacious bathroom.
Around the house, there is a large garden with a natural deep, functional well and a fire pit area.
